As Madonna continues to deny trouble in her own marriage or any involvement in the split between Alex Rodriguez and his wife, Cynthia Rodriguez filed divorce papers today in Miami-Dade Circuit Court in Florida, claiming Alex “emotionally abandoned his wife and children and has left her with no choice but to divorce him.” Cynthia cited “extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct” in the divorce petition.
Cynthia is seeking “temporary, rehabilitative, permanent, periodic and lump sum alimony” to include the couple’s $12 million waterfront home in Coral Gables, FL.
Rodriguez is the highest paid player in baseball after signing a $275 million deal with the Yankees.
Cynthia Rodriguez has had all she can stands. And she won't stands no more.
Alex Rodriguez's wife has (finally) filed for divorce from her New York Yankees third baseman.
Her divorce petition states: "Alex has emotionally abandoned his wife and children, and has left her with no choice but to divorce him."
The petition goes on to state that the marriage is "irretrievably broken because of the husband’s extramarital affairs and other marital misconduct."
What does she want?
A LOT!
Primary custody of their two daughters Natasha, 3, and Ella, 3 months; the $12-million Coral Gables, Fla., home; alimony; life and health insurance; private school tuition; and equitable distribution of assets. He's rumored to be worth about $445 million, according to TMZ.
Although she signed an antenuptial agreement (like a post-nup, not a prenup) shortly after the wedding, her attorneys will no doubt argue that it is not valid.
"Cynthia is tremendously traumatized and devastated," Houston lawyer Earle Lilly told TMZ before the official divorce filing.
NO big shockero that infidelity is a "major cause" for the divorce, but not because of any one incident. Apparently, the straw that broke A-Rod's marriage back was Madonna, although she is not named in the petition and has told People that she is ''not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage."
But his former trainer says that A-Rod's interest in Kabbalah is due to Madonna's influence.
And as for those reports that Lenny Kravitz is in the picture, he has denied any affair with Cynthia Rodriguez.
Some websites theorize that Madonna and Guy Ritchie -- who will divorce later this year -- have had this whole thing planned to drum up publicity for her new concert tour and his new movie, "RocknRolla."
Ritchie will also be appearing at Comic-Con 2008 in San Diego later this month to promote his digital graphic novel and comic book series, "Gamekeeper," part of Virgin Comics 'Director's Cut' series. Coincidence?
C-Rod's divorce papers were filed first thing Monday morning by attorney Maurice Kutner. Cynthia is also represented by Anthony Sabatino of Miami and John Van Ness of Houston.
Three lawyers? Yikes. That's a lot of attorney fees A-Rod will be asked to pick up. Meanwhile, A-Rod has hired Shaq's divorce attorney to rep him.
Now things are gonna get ugly ...
