Wedding Cake
Wedding Cake
If you’re getting married, one of the most fun parts of planning your wedding will be choosing your wedding cake. There is more to this than just going to a baker and looking through a selection of different types and styles of cakes however. When you are buying or ordering your wedding cake, there are different things that you had to consider. Something that happened to my sister-in-law taught me this very lesson. I didn’t have any problems with my cake, but she had a huge one with hers.
There are many different types of wedding cake for which to choose. This means that you not only have to think about what flavor of cake you want, you also have to think about the decorations and other things. Today many wedding cakes can come with different fillings, and different things hidden underneath the icing. This might make choosing your wedding cake more fun, but also makes it a little more risky. If you don’t know what you are getting into, and your baker doesn’t warn you, you may end up with a big mess on your hands and a lot of disappointment.
The wedding cake that my sister-in-law chose had a chocolate shell underneath the icing. Her baker did not tell her to keep the cake out of the refrigerator. Once she had the wedding cake in her hands she should have left it out at room temperature. However, she did not know this, and she put her cake in a refrigerator overnight. When the cake was left sitting out at the reception, condensation formed as the cake warmed up, and the icing began to slide off of the chocolate shell. By the time it was time to cut the wedding cake, it was a pretty sad sight indeed.
If you go with a baker to have your wedding cake made, make sure you ask them about any specific instructions that may come with a particular cake that you choose. You don’t want to have the same problem with your wedding cake that my sister-in-law did. Even though she is very easy going, it did put a damper on her day. You only have one wedding day, at least you can hope, and you don’t want something to happen to your wedding cake. If it does though, make sure you take it with good humor and don’t let it spoil your day. No matter what may happen to the outside of your wedding cake, it all tastes the same.
Wedding Cake Designs
If you are getting married soon, you have so much to do. One of the things you will have to think about is your wedding cake designs. Though some only have one cake, some choose to include the groom cake. This is smaller, and usually made from more decadent ingredients. If you want to have both, you have two cakes to choose instead of one. Either way, you want to have something that you love, and that might not be as easy as you thought. Planning a wedding can be fun, but don’t let anyone fool you, there are many choices and you can get overw
helmed.
When you visit someone about wedding cake designs, you should have something in mind when you go. You don’t have to have anything specific picked out, but having an idea of what you want will help them narrow down the choices they present to you. You may be given a book to look through, and if you can find something in that book that you like, you have lucked out. You may have to choose something that is close, and then have them tweak your favorite wedding cake designs to suit your mood.
You can find new and exciting wedding cake designs if you look around online. Not all bakeries will be able to copy what you have found, but you might find someone who can do something very similar. If you still haven’t found what you are looking for, you may be thinking about it too hard. Choose some that you think are good, and then put them away for a while. In a few weeks, get the wedding cake designs back out and go through them with fresh eyes. Something should stand out then, or you will have to start all over again.
Remember to choose your wedding cake designs as early as possible, as this will be just one of hundreds of choices that you will have to make. Get it out of the way, and don’t wait for the last minute to find someone to make it for you. The best bakery might be booked up but the time you show up to find out if they can do your cake or not. As with most wedding planning details, the early you can do it the better. Also remember you will have to choose what type of cake, or perhaps what type of extra desserts you might want to offer as an alternative.
